It’s an exciting week already as Of Monsters And Men announced last night the all-mighty reveal of a second album and a brand new track.
Crystals is the first single from long-awaited second album Beneath The Skin, which will be out June 9th. I was actually surprised when having a listen to the new track and the first album straight away to get those Of Monsters And Men back in my head, to find their first album My Head Is An Animal was way back in 2011. Four years on though and the Icelandic five peace have still retained that spark which made them oh so special back in 2011 on their debut.
The first single from the album is a familiarisation with their sound as we get eased back into what is Of Monsters And Men. The track is upbeat, happy and has a tone which sets across their music well.Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir takes on the vocals for this track with slight backing coming from Ragnar Þórhallsson, that is up until the chorus with the bands well-known signature clash of vocals between them all as they create yet another magical melody.
